India, islands, or back to WWU?
This last week has been a big test of faith! I realized that I have been trying to take control of this trip and it's been a real eye opener. It started out on Tuesday morning when I got a call from the India Visa Center in San Francisco telling me I had applied for the wrong visa. Instead of applying for a business visa I needed to apply for a tourist visa. But I had been waiting over a month for this letter of invitation from India which I learned wasn't required for a tourist visa. I thought this would be good, but it turned out that I had sent in a letter from the principal thats subject read "student missionary" and that would mean I needed to apply for a missionary visa which could take anywhere between 6 months - 1 year to process. I was on the phone all day with the India Visa Center trying to straighten things out and get the correct documents sent in. My last conversation with the Visa Center ended with a very good possibility that I might be rejected for a tourist visa and it all came down to the subject of an email titled "Student Missionary". They said it was all up to the Consulate and her decision would have the final word. Being the person I am I took matters into as much of my own hands as I could and was frustrated that I couldn't do more than write a letter explaining my purpose for this trip and it ended with 'if I can't help children in India for a year I will go somewhere else'. I'm not sure if that was out of frustration or if God had a say in that but we'll see. Jeanne, the SM director at WWU, called me that day and told me if I wanted to I could give up all of this and be on a plane the next day to the islands. So I don't know where I will end up, but I know God has a plan and He has given me much faith and peace about His decision! Thanks for all your prayers! I will know soon the outcome of the whole visa process.
